Overview and what’s new

As the company’s most powerful and fastest pure electric 4-door hatchback, the 2023 Tesla Model S still offers more than an attractive 400-mile driving range and roomy for 5 passengers. The most-powerful Model S Plaid takes just 2.1 seconds to reach 0-60 mph and produces 1,020 hp. Comes with a mid-luxury interior, the Model S arrives in 2023 with a lower price tag than before, with a $5000 price cut. As a pioneering car that started Tesla’s EV revolution, the Model S has started to show its age in the continuous journey and still offers access to the most up-to-date software and Tesla’s Autopilot hands-free driving mode, even somewhat doubtful.

A new key card comes with the 2023 Model S. If you want the old-fashioned car-shaped key fob, it can be added as an option. The yoke-styling steering wheel is standard, and a regular steering wheel is available as a no-cost option. Tesla says there is also a $700 retrofit for current Model S owners. The 2023 Tesla Model S offers a pricey $3000 ultra red paint option, which replaces the previous $2000 red paint. Apart from that, it will arrive in 2023 without any changes. But upcoming changes can be seen later this year as the company adds changes during the flight period.

When it comes to the front design, no changes have been made to the aggressive exterior design, metal-sheet stylings, and aerodynamic body. It gets the same front design as the previous model and includes the same features. It gets the same headlights, LED signature lights [daytime running lights], LED fog lights, and top-stripe and lower grille designs. Also, there have been no changes in the reader sensor (if equipped) in the middle of the front that has hidden from the view, the autopilot camera positioned on the top-middle of the windshield, the front left tow eye cover, etc.

When viewed from the side, it gets the same autopilot cameras, door handles, and charging port positioned at the same location. Since the new Tesla Model S comes with a key card, a key card reader sensor is positioned on the driver’s side door pillar. When focusing on Model S’s aggressive alloy wheels, Both Model S Base and Plaid models come with 19-inch or 21-inch wheels.

When it comes to the rear design, no changes have been made to the Model S’s rear appearance, as mentioned before. It gets the same aggressive-rear design, LED Sequential taillights, rear-view camera, right-lower edge tow hitch cover, ultrasonic sensors, and the same-stripe-type carbon fiber rear spoiler. Tesla says the carbon-fiber rear spoiler fixed on the trunk lid helps for better road stability when you fly at high speed. As a hatchback with a very-highly aerodynamic efficient body design, its overall metal-sheet stylings and body shapes help for better road stability, better handling, reducing drag and wind noise, minimizing noise emission, and preventing undesired lift forces and other causes of aerodynamic instability at high speeds.

When it comes to interior design, the almost completely-buttonless interior is Tesla’s tradition. It’s no different for the 2023 Tesla Model S, and everything is controlled via a large-17-inch infotainment display with 2200×1300 resolution centrally positioned on the simple dashboard. You have to lean forward to access the icons at the top of the touchscreen. The atmosphere and space in the cabin are decent, and the seats are still comfortable but don’t expect a high-luxury comfort like a same-cost high-luxury hatchback. And also, the sloping roof hides a huge 26-cu-ft trunk.

Unlike thesuper affordable Model 3,the Tesla Model S offers a secondary display as a gauge cluster and a small 8-inch rear touchscreen which rear passengers allow access to temperature, power, rear fan, seat heaters, media, video, audio, and volume. The yoke-styling steering wheel is standard, and a regular steering wheel is available as a no-cost option. The huge-17-inch touchscreen, which is very large for a mid-size hatchback, provides entertainment functions such as YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, video games, and more to pass the time while waiting for the battery to charge.

Both Model S Base and Plaid offer 28 cu-ft cargo capacity and includes a 22-speakers, 960-watt audio system with active road noise reduction. It comes with tri-zone automatic climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a tinted glass roof, wireless charging pads, satellite radio, Wi-Fi hotspot, etc. It also includes standard Tesla Model S safety equipment like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with emergency-automatic braking, lane keeping system, lane departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring.

Whichever model you choose offers an all-wheel drive system as the drivetrain, but the acceleration is at an incredible range with “Blistering Acceleration.” Model S’s quick acceleration and speed are exceptional. The dual-motor Base model uses a 98.0 kWh li-ion battery pack, and a 99.3 kWh li-ion battery pack serves for the tri-motor Plaid model. The Base model offers an attractive 405-mile driving range, while the S Plaid model, on the other hand, offers a 396-mile driving range. Compared to the2023 Tesla Model 3,the Model S has a much wider-driving range.

As mentioned by Tesla, the Base model takes 3.1 seconds to hit 0-60 mph, and the performance-oriented Plaid model takes just 1.99 seconds. But ‘Car and Driver’ said the Base model took just 2.4 seconds to hit 0-60 mph on their lap test. Tesla has stated the Base model has a top speed of 149 mph, and the Plaid model boasts a 200 mph of top speed. The 2023 Tesla Model S Base model with 778 hp and 841 lb-ft of torque has an estimated fuel economy rating of 124 MPGe in the city, 115 MPGe on the highway, and 120 MPGe combined. EPA has yet to release the estimated fuel economy ratings for the performance-oriented Model S Plaid, which produces the highest 1,020 hp and 1,050 lb-ft of torque.
